This short and easy walk takes you up Lusty Hill Lane, across fields and back via Godminster Lane. Pleasantly quiet and rural, but undemanding. Wellies are recommended, as there is farmyard mud to negotiate.

2.5 miles (4 km), 55 minutes to one hour 15 minutes, easy. Dog-walkers please follow the advice given.

Start at Station Road Car Park

Turn right out of the car park, swing right onto Church Bridge, cross the road and bridge, and turn left along the Riverside Walk. Continue along Lower Backway. Pass Sexey’s Hospital on your right and continue to reach the bottom of the High Street. Keeping to the same side of the road turn left, passing shops and a petrol station on the right, and pass under the railway bridge. As the main road veers right, cross Park Road and walk up Lusty Gardens (the narrow lane between the houses).

Pass through a farm gate, ignore the stile and first gate on the left and carry on until you reach a kissing gate on the left. [Dog walkers please make sure to pick up after your dog in this lane]. Follow the clear path across two fields until you reach a kissing gate onto a farm track. Turn left and follow the track through New Barn Farm until you reach Godminster Lane. [Dog walkers please keep your dog on a lead through the farmyard].

Turn left at the end of the farm drive and walk down Godminster Lane past a small industrial estate on your left (after which there is more traffic). Go straight over the crossroads at the end of the lane and continue past Jubilee Park on your right and over the railway line. Carefully cross the main road and go down the steps almost directly opposite (signed High Street). The path zig-zags down and over a footbridge. At the end of the path turn right to rejoin your outgoing route.
